Dyslexia Screening in Mallorca

A dyslexia screening can help identify whether a child or young person is showing indicators associated with dyslexia and whether further assessment or specialist support may be appropriate.

Screening is not the same as a diagnostic assessment and does not provide a formal diagnosis of dyslexia. It can, however, provide useful information about a learner’s strengths and areas of difficulty and help families decide on appropriate next steps.

Who is Dyslexia Screening For?

Dyslexia screening may be helpful when there are concerns about reading, spelling, writing or literacy development, but it is not yet clear whether a full diagnostic assessment is needed.

It can be particularly useful for children and young people whose difficulties are beginning to affect progress, confidence or access to learning.

What Does a Dyslexia Screening Involve?

Screening looks at key areas associated with literacy development and dyslexia. Background information is considered alongside the screening results so that the findings can be understood in the context of the individual learner.

Following the screening, I explain the findings and discuss appropriate next steps with the family.

A screening provides an indication of whether a learner is showing a pattern of difficulties associated with dyslexia. It does not provide a formal diagnosis.

A full diagnostic dyslexia assessment is considerably more comprehensive and results in a detailed diagnostic report with recommendations for education and support.

What Happens Afterwards?

The findings may indicate that targeted literacy support is appropriate, that progress should be monitored, or that a full diagnostic assessment would be helpful.

The aim is to give families a clearer understanding of the learner’s needs and practical guidance about what to do next.
